Who is this course for?
You're new to Tableau and want to learn completely from scratch.
This course assumes you've never worked with Tableau before. We'll start with installing the right version of Tableau and build from there.
You're familiar with Tableau and ready to learn more features and tricks.
Maybe you're comfortable with a few specific visualizations, but you're not as knowledgeable when it comes to more advanced techniques or visualizations. Take your skills to the next level.
You're preparing for Tableau Desktop Specialist certification.
Whether you've used Tableau for years or just heard about it last week, you're considering getting Tableau certification. This course fully prepares you for the Tableau Desktop Specialist certification exam offered by Tableau.

Tableau Training Contents
Here's what we'll cover in the course.
Tableau Introduction
It's easy to begin using Tableau.
As we get started with the course, we'll look at the many different applications within the Tableau suite of tools. Then we'll install and setup the version we'll use for this course.
Lay the Foundation: Connect & Prepare Data
Everything we do in Tableau starts with a data source. We'll jump right into learning Tableau by connecting to an Excel file as our first data source.
Then we'll move on to making other types of connections (both live and extracts) as well as joining, blending, and unioning data within Tableau.
We know our data isn't always as perfect as we'd like so we'll also look at Tableau data cleaning techniques. These will help us create a better foundation for the analysis we'll perform.
Explore the Data: Basic Data Analysis
Now that we've connected our data and done some initial cleaning, it's time to start exploring.
We'll begin by building simple visualizations including bar charts, line charts, and scatterplots. Tableau allows us to plot geographic data as well so we'll look at different map visualizations and how to use them.
Once we have basic graphics created, we'll set up filters to easily change the data we're viewing. From there, we'll move on to creating hierarchies within our data so we can perform drill-down analysis.
Advanced Data Mining: Going Deeper
We've covered the basic tactics to use in your analysis. Now it's time to go deeper.
Sometimes a simple visualization doesn't tell us everything we need to know. We'll look at how to create more complex charts that combine multiple datasets, highlight anomalies, and include multiple chart types.
We'll create our own new columns of data that combine, separate, or perform calculations on existing information.
Share Insights: Dashboards & Storytelling
Dashboards are the heart of the Tableau application. They combine multiple individual visualizations to draw a more comprehensive picture of what's happening.
In addition to learning the mechanics of creating Tableau dashboards, we'll look at best practices for creating amazing data visualizations. How we communicate our analysis is just as important as the contents of that analysis.
Tableau stories expand the communication possibilities even further. We'll create a simple story that puts a polishing touch on the data visualizations we've created.
Prepare for Certification
Take the next step in your Tableau journey by becoming certified. Prepare for the Tableau Desktop Specialist Certification with a practice exam and exam day tips.
When you've completed the practice exam, watch the explanation videos to get a deeper explanation to each answer - helping you improve in areas you were unsure or wrong.
Please note: Certification is administered by Tableau. This course does not include the exam or exam fees.
